Services
In Person
Traditionally, therapy is done in person. Doing therapy in person provides the client with the richest experience because there is something important about being in the therapist’s presence, and because the subtle body language of the therapist can often be a source of healing for the client. However, what is most important for successful therapy sessions is the comfort of the client because this comfort allows for trust and openness in the relationship, so for some people their level of comfort in a location other than the therapist’s office. Yet, it is within the therapist’s office that the client experiences the greatest amount of privacy.
Online
For many people, doing their sessions from the comfort of their own homes, or another place in which they are comfortable, is best for them because it is in being in this place of comfort that they feel free to open up about their lives. For those people, therapy services are offered by St. Nicholas Counselling over Zoom, with Zoom links always being emailed to the client the day before as a friendly and professional reminder of the appointment the following day.
Telephone
For some people, there is a preference to do their therapy sessions over the telephone. The reasons people seek out therapy are many, but how they choose to get the therapy done is always a very personal choice. For those choosing to do therapy over the telephone, services are offered by St. Nicholas Counselling over the telephone as per request.
Emails, Texts, Phone Calls
Although someone might not be in distress when they enter the therapy, the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist can often last years. As such, there are many important occasions during the course of the therapy that a period of psychological distress might arise. These things happen in life. During these times, the client is encouraged to contact the therapist through whatever means they are comfortable. Clients at St. Nicholas Counselling experience an openness and welcoming spirit by their therapist during these times, as well as a quick response time to any and all inquiries. There should be no shyness or sense of reservation to ever contact your therapist for any reason. However, it is important to note that there is no replacement for regular, ongoing, hour-long therapy sessions, and that ongoing communication between therapist and client are meant to augment these sessions.
